Cynon Valley Museum

Use the museum to put people back into the story of the valley. Its permanent collection and changing gallery displays make an indoor starting point before exploring Aberdare, with enough variety to choose a few subjects rather than read everything. The community-run setting encourages a slower look at local history and contemporary creative work.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary admission is free. The current homepage lists Tuesday–Saturday 10:00–16:00; confirm closing time because older visitor text differs. Events and temporary exhibitions have their own schedules.
Access and getting around: The museum describes step-free access, a lift to the first floor, an accessible ground-floor toilet and two accessible parking bays. Its small visitor car park is free during opening hours. Discuss any additional requirements with staff.

Visiting with children: Ask about detective trails and activities available on your date. Focus on a few objects or a short trail, and avoid assuming that an old holiday workshop runs every day.
