The Alnwick Garden

The Alnwick Garden is designed around movement: water cascades down the central terraces, paths lead into formal planting, and smaller spaces change the pace of the visit. Make time for the Grand Cascade and whichever gardens suit the season. The Poison Garden adds a guided botanical story, while Lilidorei is a separately ticketed play attraction rather than part of ordinary garden admission.

Poison Garden entry now needs a separately paid, pre-booked guided tour as well as a valid garden ticket. Book that slot first if it is your main reason to visit.

Where to find it: Beside Alnwick Castle, reached from the town-side approach or the signed Denwick Lane car park.

Tickets and booking: Garden, Lilidorei and castle admission are distinct. Garden/Lilidorei combined tickets exist, but do not include the castle. Autumn and winter hours shorten and some weekdays close. Standard garden tickets cannot be changed or refunded; Flexi tickets have separate conditions. Poison Garden tours are guided only: follow staff rules and do not touch, smell or taste plants.
Access and getting around: The operator provides wheelchair routes, an accessible car park near the Treehouse and pre-bookable mobility equipment. A Changing Places facility is in the gift shop beside Admissions. Check the detailed access guide for slopes and the particular areas you want to reach, and arrange any carer ticket before travel.

Visiting with children: Water features and the Bamboo Labyrinth give families a different visit from the castle; bring spare clothing for children who get wet. Check the current garden-only free-child offer and its paying-adult conditions. Lilidorei has different child charges, a separate calendar and play sessions, so compare the right ticket.
