Estate parkland walks / NEAR ALNWICK
Hulne Park
Hulne Park opens a much larger landscape beyond Alnwick’s western edge, with woodland, open parkland and marked estate routes. It suits visitors who want walking to be the main activity rather than a short pause between shops. Choose a route from the estate map, allow time to get back to the entrance and enjoy the landscape without needing to reach every ruin or viewpoint.

The estate currently gives an 11am–4pm opening window, with gates closing at 4pm. Check closures before setting out and plan your return well inside that limit.
The practical details
- Where to find it
- Estate parkland north-west of Alnwick; pedestrian entrance at Forest Lodge, reached from the western end of town.
Directions and arrival information ↗ - Tickets and booking
- No ordinary admission ticket is required, but the estate can close the park on particular days. Follow the current online notices or call 01665 510777, and obey signs at the entrance. Use only permitted marked routes; do not assume a tower, ruin or private estate building is open.
- Access and getting around
- Routes include gradients and variable surfaces, so choose the distance and terrain to match your mobility needs. Consult the estate’s marked-route map and ask the estate office about a route suitable for your mobility needs. Do not rely on visitor toilets or refreshments inside the park.
Official access information ↗ - Visiting with children
- Choose a distance children can comfortably complete before the gates close. Longer marked circuits run for several miles, so bring drinks and a snack and leave time for rests. Dogs and cyclists are not permitted; this is unsuitable for a family outing that depends on bringing either.

Make it part of your day
Allow 2–3 hours for a chosen walk for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
