St Vigeans Sculptured Stones Museum

Make a separate trip to St Vigeans for close attention to carved figures, patterns and symbols. The scale of the museum makes a focused visit more rewarding than a hurried stop between other attractions: choose a few stones, use the interpretation and give yourself time to compare details. It complements the abbey’s later history without repeating the same story.

Tickets and booking: Current opening is Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday in April–September, with a lunch closure. Closed October–March. Check the current calendar and ticket before travelling.
Access and getting around: The museum is about 150 metres from the level car park over a tarmac bridge and pavement. A slight entrance threshold and a 1:15 ramp connect the two levels; adapted toilets and tactile/audio displays are provided.
