Burns through objects and art →
Use the cottage’s shorter opening window first, then decide whether to continue to Rozelle after a break and separate transfer.
Poetry, objects and a birthplace / NEAR AYR
Explore Burns through the museum’s objects and displays, then follow the Poet’s Path to the cottage where he was born if time and weather allow. The two spaces offer different perspectives: one helps you understand his work and life, the other its domestic beginnings. Treat Alloway as a focused outing south of Ayr’s centre.

The combined visit involves a 500 m outdoor link, and the cottage closes earlier than the museum. Start with whichever part has the tighter opening window.
Practical information checked 16 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 2–3 hours for museum and cottage for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
