All Saints’ Church, Bakewell

Climb above the centre to Bakewell’s parish church, where carved early stones and later monuments reveal a much longer history than the shops below. Look at the churchyard features and the spacious interior when worship permits. Its position beside the route to the Old House Museum makes the two a natural pairing.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary entry is free and donations are welcome. The parish publishes daytime opening with a shorter autumn/winter day; check current times, worship and event access before travelling. Tours require advance discussion. Café sessions and festivals have their own dates, so do not rely on them for an everyday lunch stop.
Access and getting around: The parish directs wheelchair visitors to the vestry entrance on the north side. The town approach is steep and surrounding parking is limited. The Church of England listing identifies an accessible toilet, hearing loop, large print and baby changing; contact the parish about entrance arrangements and any specific support.

Visiting with children: Choose a few carved shapes or memorial details to notice, and explain that this is a working place of worship. Take care in the churchyard and avoid climbing on old stonework. A short, focused visit can be enough.
