Village railway heritage, a chosen local walk and time for a meal.
Former railway scenery at your own pace / BALLATER
Leave Station Square on a chosen short section of the Deeside Way and turn back when it suits your time and energy. The former railway route gives this walk a different emphasis from a steep hill outing: look for the valley landscape, railway traces and the village’s setting beneath the surrounding hills. You do not need to walk to Aboyne to enjoy the path.

The Seven Bridges riverside loop has a flood-damage closure. This recommendation is a modest Deeside Way out-and-back, not that closed loop; check current National Park alerts before setting off.

Allow 45–90 minutes, with your own turnaround for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
