Park & gardens / BATH

Royal Victoria Park

Give the day a little breathing room with open lawns, a children’s play area and the Botanical Gardens within Royal Victoria Park. Choose one part of the park for a short break, or spend longer exploring when the weather suits.

Before you go

The park is spread out: the play area and Botanical Gardens are different stops. Choose which matters most before walking over. Bring a picnic or budget for refreshments, and check current toilet and attraction availability.

The practical details

Where to find it
Marlborough Lane, Bath BA1 2NQ. West of the city centre, below the Royal Crescent.
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
General park admission is free. Parking, refreshments and optional attractions can cost extra. Check council updates for any works or event restrictions.
Access and getting around
The council describes wheelchair access and a slightly sloping green area. Route surfaces and gradients vary across the wider park; check the entrance and facilities that suit your plans rather than assuming every path is level.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
The play area gives children a different kind of stop after a museum. Some additional rides and leisure activities charge separately or depend on weather. Leave time for a toilet and food break before heading back into town.

Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 45 minutes–2 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
