A first Beaumaris castle and town day →
Check castle opening and choose an accessible route for your group. Leave lunch and outdoor conditions room to shape the day.
An unfinished fortress beside the Menai Strait / BEAUMARIS
Give the castle time to reveal its plan: moat, layers of defences and the scale of a project that was never fully completed. Explore at a pace that lets you understand the spaces rather than only looking for the highest viewpoint. The open grounds are a major part of the visit, with wall walks optional according to access and conditions.

This is largely an outdoor monument. Wet grass, gravel and steep stone stairs make it different from a furnished indoor castle; suitable footwear and a shorter ground-level route may be the better choice.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 1.5–2.5 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
