Panacea Museum

Discover the Panacea Society through the houses, objects and stories of a religious community that made Bedford central to its beliefs. The opening pattern changes in autumn and the museum closes for part of the winter. Its buildings have different access arrangements; check the current route rather than assuming every room can be reached without steps.

Tickets and booking: Admission is free. Check the live seasonal calendar: Thursday–Sunday through late September changes to Thursday–Saturday in October and November. Group tours and events have their own arrangements.
Access and getting around: A step-free entrance to The Haven is reached from Castle Road; use its doorbell. The adapted toilet is in Castleside across the site. Ask which rooms and outdoor routes suit your needs before visiting.

Visiting with children: The museum offers family trails, wooden toys and colouring. Older children may enjoy discussing the unusual history, but choose how much interpretation suits their attention and interests.
