Pont y Pair and Coed Tan Dinas
Look across the Llugwy from Pont y Pair, then follow the short Coed Tan Dinas trail among tall Douglas firs. The boardwalk and riverside picnic area give a taste of the forest without committing to a lake hike. Use the current trail panel to choose the short route rather than drifting onto a longer riverside walk.
The boardwalk is only part of the route. Coed Tan Dinas climbs gradually before returning; the separate Miners’ Bridge riverside walk has rougher ground, narrow gates and a flood-prone section.

- No ordinary trail admission charge or booking. Follow current NRW signs, weather advice and any forestry closures. Use the official current route information and check the trail panel before setting off; longer riverside paths may be affected by flooding.
- Access and getting around
- NRW lists the Coed Tan Dinas circuit as 1.2km with 34m ascent, starting on a 1.5m-wide boardwalk before climbing through woodland. Check the current panel for surfaces and your turning point. The longer Afon Llugwy route includes narrow paths, roots and kissing gates; do not walk flooded sections. Parking and public toilets at Pont y Pair are charged.

- Look for the tree interpretation and the Animal Discovery Trail leaflet. Keep children away from river edges and do not use exposed rocks as play areas. A short out-and-back on a suitable part of the trail can be enough for young walkers.
