Swallow Falls — Rhaeadr Ewynnol

See the Llugwy rushing through a wooded rocky channel at Swallow Falls, around two miles west of Betws-y-Coed. The paid entrance off the A5 gives access to viewing areas, making this a separate short excursion rather than a village-centre stop. The lower platform adds steps; a full forest walk to the falls is a different undertaking.

Check the alternative-access opening hours before setting off if the turnstile or steps are a barrier. The council’s 24-hour general entry listing does not mean its accessible entrance is available at all times.

Tickets and booking: Council listing: £2 admission by turnstile, coins or contactless, with general access all year round. Visit in daylight and suitable conditions. Alternative access is seasonally restricted. Check current local signs, parking and bus arrangements; group bookings can be arranged through the council.
Access and getting around: The council lists disabled access only April–October, 10am–3pm; contact it to confirm the gate and viewing area that suit you. Visit Conwy describes steps to the lower platform. Surfaces can be wet, and different viewpoints have different access. Plan toilets and food separately rather than assuming facilities within the turnstile site.

Visiting with children: A compact waterfall visit can suit families who can manage the chosen viewing area. Supervise closely near water and keep behind barriers. Consider the journey and the steps before bringing a pushchair; confirm alternative entry arrangements where needed.
