Beverley Guildhall

See the courtroom ceiling and rooms where Beverley’s civic life unfolded. The building still has ceremonial uses, while displays and local paintings connect the town’s institutions with the people who lived here. Its compact scale makes a useful extra on an opening day, rather than a substitute for the larger Treasure House collection.

Make this the fixed point of a Wednesday or Friday plan. It is not a reliable walk-in museum on an ordinary Saturday, even though the town market is busy.

Tickets and booking: General admission is free. Normal opening is Wednesday and Friday, 10am–4pm from May to October; November–April Wednesdays finish at 1pm while Fridays remain 10am–4pm. Bank holidays and civic events can change access. Group tours are arranged separately and charge.
Access and getting around: Wheelchair access is to the ground floor only. The upstairs Parlour and its displays require stairs. Ask staff what can be seen on a ground-floor visit; accessible parking is nearby on Cross Street and Lord Roberts Road.

Visiting with children: Ask about courtroom dressing-up, explorer kits and the current activities for younger children. A focused look at how a town was governed can be enough before an outdoor break.
