Beverley Minster

Give the Minster time for both its scale and its small details: carved figures, stained glass and the old sanctuary story. This is a working parish church whose main interior makes a rewarding visit without adding a roof climb. It anchors the southern end of the historic centre, close to the route towards the Beck.

Look at the events calendar before deciding that ordinary sightseeing will be available. A fair or concert has different arrangements from a normal free visit.

Tickets and booking: General entry is free, donations welcome. Normal opening is 10am–4pm, except 26 December; Sunday access before noon is limited during services. Guided ground-level and roof tours charge separately and need date checks. Roof tours require suitable closed footwear and early arrival.
Access and getting around: A signed level entrance has a power-assisted door. Ask staff about the accessible toilet in the Parish Hall. The optional roof tour has 113 narrow spiral steps and uneven floors; its access is very different from the main church.

Visiting with children: Choose a few carvings to find and leave room for questions. Roof tours are only for children over eight and require a separate suitability decision about stairs and enclosed spaces.
