St Mary’s Church, Beverley
St Mary’s rewards a closer, detail-led visit at the northern end of town. Look up at the painted Ceiling of Kings and ask about the pilgrim hare carving, traditionally linked with the White Rabbit story. Its interior gives a different focus from the Minster’s vast spaces, with North Bar nearby for a short street-level look afterwards.
Arrive after 11am on a normal Monday–Saturday visiting day. Sunday opening is primarily for services, and volunteer shortages can occasionally change access.

- Ordinary church visiting is free; donations support the building and special concerts or events may charge. Normal visiting is Monday–Saturday 11am–4pm. Between Christmas and New Year the church normally opens only for services; groups and visitors travelling a long way should contact the parish.
- Access and getting around
- Contact the church about your entrance, seating and toilet requirements before a special journey. Historic interior routes need checking for your equipment. The website’s virtual Priests’ Rooms tour is not a promise that those rooms are open to ordinary visitors.
