- The museum has level access via an authorised crossing beside the footbridge, level exhibition halls and a lift to the viewing gallery. Some vehicles have ramps, but not every vehicle interior is accessible. Confirm suitable train accommodation directly before booking.

- Select a journey and a few museum highlights instead of assuming children will want every display. Keep away from working tracks and use designated crossings; toilets and baby changing are listed at the museum.
