BO’NESS GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

A film in a historic picture house / BO’NESS

Hippodrome Cinema

Choose a screening at the restored 1912 cinema for an outing that combines a film with a distinctive historic setting. The programme ranges across new releases, older films and special events, so pick something you genuinely want to see. A screening makes a useful indoor anchor rather than a building you can assume is open for casual sightseeing.

Check the screening time, running length and age certificate before arranging a meal or family visit around it.

The practical details

Where to find it
10 Hope Street, Bo’ness EH51 0AA
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Buy tickets for the chosen screening and check the current programme. Published screening days are Wednesday–Monday, but individual showtimes vary. There is no on-site car park; allow time to walk from town parking.
Access and getting around
There is a ramped entrance and an adapted ground-floor toilet. Three wheelchair spaces are available in the lower auditorium and should be arranged with the box office. Captioned, audio-described and relaxed screenings are selected events, not every showing.

Visiting with children
Choose a suitable certificate and running time; a family film is a stronger plan than expecting children to enjoy the building alone. Ask about relaxed screenings if their arrangements would help.

Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow film running time plus arrival and refreshments for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
