A house tour and estate history →
A seasonal guided interior followed by flexible outdoor exploration.
Free parkland with layers of history / BO’NESS
Explore the grounds around Kinneil House for a view of the exterior, traces of the Antonine frontier and the remains of James Watt’s workshop. The estate offers a flexible outdoor visit even when no house tour is running. Choose a small route through the historic landscape rather than treating every ruin as a separate attraction.

The free outdoor estate does not include entry to the house, and Kinneil Museum’s former everyday opening should not be relied on during its management transition.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 1–2 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
