Book a guided visit for the house’s remarkable historic wall paintings and the story of the Hamilton family. The interior is a limited-date experience, very different from an everyday walk through the surrounding estate. Make the tour time the anchor of the day, then leave outdoor time flexible.

Ordinary house tours are paid and run on selected summer Saturdays. A special free open day does not make normal admission free.

Tickets and booking: Guided tours must be booked online in advance. The current regular season is Saturdays from April to September; check the actual calendar and restrictions. The operator currently lists no public toilets at the house.
Access and getting around: There are two steps to the interior and ground floor, with upper areas reached by a spiral staircase. The historic house has no lift. Discuss requirements before reserving a tour, and plan toilets elsewhere unless current facilities are specifically confirmed.

Visiting with children: The tour works best for children happy to listen and use historic stairs carefully. Explain the guided format beforehand and balance it with a short estate walk rather than another long indoor visit.
