Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum
A Victorian collector’s house above the seafront brings together decorated rooms, paintings and objects acquired through travel. Choose it when the interiors and the owners’ collecting interests appeal as much as a conventional gallery. Its cliffside position also puts the beach and the town’s resort history in perspective.
The entrance is on East Cliff Slope. Read the museum’s recommended approach before setting off: a short map distance from the pier does not mean an easy gradient.

- Access and getting around
- Most galleries and house areas have lift access, but the upper house floor does not. The approach is steep; the museum recommends approaching from the lower part of East Cliff Slope. Contact staff before travelling with a mobility scooter.

- Ordinary pushchairs cannot accompany a tour of the historic house; storage and alternative carriers are described by the museum. Ask about arrangements if a child needs a pushchair because of a disability.
