BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

Cars, motorcycles and childhood collections / BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection

Explore the museum in Bourton’s Old Mill, where seven showrooms bring together vehicles, motoring memorabilia and toys. Compare the shapes of older cars, pick out a favourite motorcycle or follow the smaller objects that tell stories of everyday travel. It is a compact indoor visit that works well before lunch or as the centre of a wet half-day.

Before you go

Choose a few collections that interest your group instead of rushing through every case. The river and village centre are just outside, so there is no need to move the car for the next stop.

The practical details

Where to find it
The Old Mill, Sherborne Street, Bourton-on-the-Water GL54 2BY
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Ordinary public entry is paid. Boundless members have a separate membership admission benefit with guest limits and a valid card requirement. Check current opening, winter dates and ticket arrangements with the museum; allow at least an hour before closing.
Access and getting around
The operator states that the museum is wheelchair accessible throughout. Contact staff before visiting if you need particular assistance or details of toilets and seating; historic surroundings and a nearby public toilet do not establish every facility inside.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Toys and smaller vehicles can make a good starting point for children who are less interested in engines. Public admission is charged for ages five to sixteen; under-fives are free. Keep the visit flexible around attention spans rather than expecting hands-on play in every gallery.

Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 1–1½ hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
