A free countryside walk from the village / BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER
Greystones Farm Nature Reserve
Leave the busiest riverside streets for the reserve on Greystones Lane, where wildlife paths and traces of an earlier landscape make a quieter outing. Choose an open route from the information at the entrance and allow time to pause. The replica roundhouse is an outdoor landmark; going inside depends on a scheduled event.

Check the reserve’s current access notice before setting off. Meadow paths close during wet seasons, while the café and shop are currently closed: bring water and arrange food in the village.
The practical details
- Where to find it
- Greystones Lane, Bourton-on-the-Water GL54 2EN
Directions and arrival information ↗ - Tickets and booking
- Ordinary reserve access is free. Follow seasonal barriers and current route signs, and check event booking if you want to enter the roundhouse. There is no general visitor parking at the reserve; use a village car park and walk, or arrange eligible accessible parking ahead.
- Access and getting around
- The farmyard-to-roundhouse path is described as suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Other trails are largely grassy and can be muddy; this does not make the whole reserve an accessible circuit. Public parking is off site; Blue Badge parking can be arranged in advance with the Trust. Seating is limited on much of the route.
Official access information ↗ - Visiting with children
- Keep dogs on leads and give livestock space. A short walk to the roundhouse can work better than a longer meadow circuit with young children. Plan toilets and food in Bourton first; do not promise the roundhouse interior, café or farm demonstrations as everyday family activities.
