Bridlington Old Town trail

Follow a short section of the Old Town trail to see Bridlington as a historic settlement rather than only a resort. High Street, Market Place and the area around the Priory offer a change in scale and atmosphere. The external buildings and street details reward a look even when individual shops or attractions are closed.

Before you go

The Old Town is a separate part of Bridlington from the harbourfront. Plan the transfer instead of assuming the trail begins beside the beach; a heritage map also does not guarantee that buildings on it are open.

Tickets and booking: Walking public streets is free. Separate attractions, purchases and refreshments have their own arrangements. Respect residential entrances and opening signs rather than treating all historic buildings as visitor sites.
Access and getting around: The route uses public streets and crossings, with surfaces that may be uneven. Choose a section that matches your group’s mobility and leave time for stops; the tourism route’s difficulty label is not a step-free guarantee.

Visiting with children: Look for plaques and contrasting doorways rather than reading every historical detail. The Priory and museum may add interest when open, but shorten the walk if children need an earlier break.
