Outdoor swimming / CHELTENHAM
Cheltenham Lido
Cheltenham’s historic open-air lido turns a visit into a swimming day rather than a series of sights. The 50-metre main pool, lawns and seasonal atmosphere reward leaving time to change, swim and rest. Choose an open-swim session for a leisure visit: lane swimming and the children’s pool have separate timetables, and the availability of one does not establish access to the others.

Check the session type before paying. A lane-swimming slot is not a substitute for a family open-swim booking.
The practical details
- Where to find it
- Keynsham Road, Cheltenham GL53 7PU, on the eastern side of Sandford Park.
Directions and arrival information ↗ - Tickets and booking
- Book the correct date and session, particularly in busy weather; walk-up entry depends on capacity. Consult the live timetable for seasonal operation rather than assuming summer facilities continue all year. Weather can interrupt swimming, and ticket changes and refunds have specific conditions. The venue was formerly called Sandford Parks Lido.
- Access and getting around
- The operator lists ramps to the café and accessible toilets, accessible changing and shower facilities with codes from reception, and a main-pool hoist operated with staff assistance. Ask ahead about the help and session you need. Parking is charged separately, including for Blue Badge holders.
Official access information ↗ - Visiting with children
- The children’s pool timetable is marked for under-eights. Operator rules require under-eights to be supervised by someone aged at least 16, with no more than two children per guardian; closer one-to-one supervision is advised for under-fives. Lifeguards do not replace the supervising adult.
Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Make it part of your day
Allow 2–3 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
