Pittville Park and Pump Room

Pittville explains Cheltenham’s spa ambitions at a generous outdoor scale. The Pump Room stands above the lawns and lake, while the park gives you room to stroll, picnic or spend longer at the playground. Treat the elegant building as the destination for the walk and its interior as a possible extra: it is also an events venue, with a calendar separate from the surrounding park.

Before you go

Evesham Road divides the park. Start on the eastern side for the Pump Room and main playground instead of crossing back and forth.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary park entry is free. Pump Room public opening, cafés and ticketed events follow separate calendars and private hires can limit entry. Do not depend on a summer pop-up café or a published historic heritage-opening schedule without checking. The council lists a one-day Pittville toilet closure for cleaning on 16 September 2026.
Access and getting around: The council lists accessible paths, benches and picnic facilities, with toilets and a Changing Places facility near the main play area. The Pump Room’s current access page describes level ground-floor facilities and an accessible toilet; upper-floor access is restricted. Check temporary toilet closures before relying on them.

Visiting with children: The main playground, aviaries and space for a picnic support a substantial outdoor family visit. Lakes and the road between the two halves need supervision. Boat hire and other seasonal activities are optional, with their own operating arrangements and charges.
