Chepstow Museum

Look beyond the castle at the town’s life as a port and trading centre, with stories of wine, shipbuilding and salmon fishing. Art and local objects connect the river outside with the people who worked on it and the visitors who came to admire it. The museum makes a useful companion to a town walk without demanding another whole afternoon.

The museum is free but closes on Mondays and Wednesdays. Check the current exhibition and visit before its afternoon closing time rather than treating it as an always-open fallback.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary entry is free. Current MonLife opening is Tuesday and Thursday–Sunday, 11:00–16:00, with Monday and Wednesday closed. Check exceptions and any special-event arrangements before travelling.
Access and getting around: The operator advertises wheelchair access to the ground floor and WC. Do not assume every part of this historic house is accessible; contact the museum about the displays and facilities important to you. Town car parks are nearby.
