A prepared Ceiriog walking day →
Reserve the day for the full official countryside circuit rather than combining it with paid castle sightseeing.
A substantial border-country walking day / CHIRK
Choose this official circular route when walking itself is the main plan. It links Chirk, estate paths, pasture, woodland and the Ceiriog, with sections across the English border before returning towards town. The variety is rewarding for prepared walkers, but the distance and terrain make it very different from a short aqueduct visit.

The council’s full route is seven miles and suggests about four hours before generous breaks. Take the actual route leaflet and a map; do not treat a few summary directions as enough navigation.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 4–5 hours with breaks for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
