Conwy Town Walls
The town walls show how tightly medieval Conwy fitted between its fortifications and the estuary. Look up from the streets or climb an open section for changing views across roofs and towards the castle. The elevated walk is split into sections and involves repeated steps, so choose a manageable stretch instead of planning a complete circuit.
The section between the Watch Tower and Wing Gate is currently closed. Check Cadw’s notice and follow barriers; the hoped-for reopening is not a reason to plan through it.

- Free entry to available sections during reasonable daylight hours. No ticket is needed, but the Watch Tower–Wing Gate closure interrupts the route. Check the current notice before visiting and use public streets to move between open access points.
- Access and getting around
- Steps lead onto and off the separate sections, which become steeper in places. Historic surfaces are uneven and narrow, with pinch points. Use the handrails and choose ground-level views if heights or stairs are unsuitable. Cadw advises daylight use only; avoid the walk in low light or uncomfortable weather.

- Keep children close at narrow points and do not let them climb or sit on the stonework. Pick a short section, with a street-level alternative for tired legs or a pushchair. Dogs are not allowed on the elevated wall walks.
