Behind the High Street gatehouse, Robert Wynn’s house unfolds through courtyards, decorated rooms and a small recreated garden. Painted plasterwork, initials and domestic spaces show how a wealthy household presented itself and how it worked. The audio tour can help connect the details, making this a strong counterpart to the castle’s larger defensive spaces.

Plas Mawr closes for winter, currently from 2 November to the end of February, and closes earlier from October. Check the house calendar before buying a joint ticket or planning it as wet-weather shelter.

Tickets and booking: Paid ordinary entry, with online and on-arrival tickets and a same-day joint option for Conwy Castle. Check both opening calendars. Last admission is 45 minutes before closing, and the house has a winter closed season. Assistance dogs only.
Access and getting around: The normal approach from the shop crosses cobbles and steps over about 30 metres. A side entrance can be arranged for wheelchair access to some ground-floor areas: call ahead or ask staff. Other floors have stairs, high thresholds and low doors; the observation tower uses a steep ladder-style stair. An accessible toilet and baby changing are listed.

Visiting with children: Look for Robert Wynn’s initials and compare the grand rooms with the working areas. Keep the observation tower optional and supervise thresholds and staircases. Under-fives currently enter free. There is no café, so plan a separate food break in town.
