CONWY GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

Welsh art gallery / CONWY

Royal Cambrian Academy of Art

The Academy’s changing exhibitions show work by Welsh artists in a gallery just uphill from the High Street. Choose a few paintings, textiles or other works to look at closely, depending on the programme, and use the smaller scale as a contrast to the castle and Plas Mawr. Ordinary exhibition entry is free; workshops are separate experiences.

The practical details

Where to find it
Crown Lane, Conwy LL32 8AN
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Ordinary gallery exhibitions are free to enter. Check the current Thursday–Saturday pattern and exhibition changeovers. Talks, classes and special events may need booking and have separate charges; purchases from the gallery are optional.
Access and getting around
Crown Lane runs uphill from the High Street. The Academy describes a drop-off outside on the narrow lane, but no nearby dedicated disabled parking. Contact the gallery to confirm its entrance and internal route for your needs before travelling. Do not assume that the approach to neighbouring Plas Mawr is the same.

Visiting with children
Make a short visit looking for a colour, shape or subject, keeping hands clear of displayed work. Check age, price and booking for workshops separately; a past school-holiday art club is not a drop-in activity available every day.

Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 45–60 minutes for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
