RSPB Conwy Nature Reserve

Across the estuary at Llandudno Junction, trails lead through reedbeds and around lagoons created on material excavated for the Conwy road tunnel. Choose a short boardwalk circuit or a longer route with hides and estuary views. The visitor centre, café and natural play area make it a useful self-contained outing rather than an extra stop squeezed after a full town day.

Before you go

Ask the welcome team which paths suit the day’s conditions. For pushchairs or wheelchairs, avoid the Ganol trail and discuss the outer route; puddles and uneven sections can change the easiest option.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary reserve admission is charged to non-members; check current membership and age concessions. Guided walks and equipment hire have separate arrangements. Check opening for the café, hides, toilets and locked car park. Dogs are restricted to the shop; assistance dogs are welcome across the reserve. Plan the separate journey from Conwy town.
Access and getting around: Trails are mainly level with rolled-slate, boardwalk and other surfaces, gates and benches. Some longer sections are uneven; the Ganol route is unsuitable for prams and wheelchairs. The visitor centre has a ramp and heavy manual doors. Accessible toilets and baby changing are beside the café. Reserve a mobility scooter ahead; the car park locks in the evening.

Visiting with children: Start with the short Blue Tit trail and add a hide or the natural play area if energy allows. The sandpit and wooden climbing equipment have different access from other play spaces, and grass can be muddy. Bring layers and water, and keep sightings as a possibility rather than a promised activity.
