Spon Street, Coventry

Look above the shopfronts for a different view of Coventry’s historic fabric. Spon Street makes a compact exterior walk where timber frames and the everyday life of the street sit together. Take time over a few buildings and combine it with lunch or another central stop rather than expecting a large open-air museum.

This is a working street, not a ticketed heritage complex. Businesses and nearby small museums keep their own hours; an attractive building exterior is not a promise of interior access.

Where to find it: Spon Street, west of Coventry’s central shopping area

Tickets and booking: Walking the public street needs no ticket. Food, shopping and any separately opened museum or tour are optional extras. Follow current access notices and respect occupied buildings.
Access and getting around: Use normal town pavements and crossings, checking current roadworks and any uneven surfaces. The conservation-area designation does not establish a universally step-free walking route.
