COVENTRY GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

A green break with a place for remembrance / COVENTRY

War Memorial Park, Coventry

Give a city visit a quieter outdoor chapter in War Memorial Park. A walk among the open spaces and memorial landscape can be a change from indoor galleries, while families can choose a play break instead of another museum. Let the memorial setting shape the pace and keep the route as short or long as your group needs.

Before you go

The park is outside the central cathedral cluster. Plan the transfer and chosen entrance before adding it at the end of a tiring day; facilities and car-park rules have their own hours and conditions.

The practical details

Where to find it
Kenilworth Road and Leamington Road, south of central Coventry
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Ordinary park entry is free. The council currently allows three free parking hours, with charges after that and different ticket procedures by car park; follow arrival signs even for a free stay. Organised sport, events and café purchases are separate.
Access and getting around
The council identifies wheelchair access and Blue Badge bays at Kenilworth Road and Leamington Road. Plan the distance from your chosen entrance and check facilities; any vehicle access inside the park needs prior agreement, not simply a Blue Badge.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Use play and open space to balance a quieter morning. Keep an eye on children near roads and sports areas, respect memorials and check current availability rather than promising every seasonal facility.

Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 1–2 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
