Walmer Castle and Gardens
Choose Walmer for garden time rather than a second fortress interior. Formal planting, quieter paths and woodland make this a different outing from Deal’s compact streets. Pick the sections that interest you and include a seated break instead of trying to cover every corner of the grounds.
The castle interiors are currently closed for conservation preparations. Gardens and visitor facilities remain open; check the latest English Heritage notice before booking.

- Book for your date and check current opening and the interiors closure notice. The seafront walk from Deal adds substantial time in both directions. Walmer station is a separate arrival option; confirm onward walking or transport arrangements.
- Access and getting around
- The Broadwalk, Queen Mother’s Garden and woodland have suitable gravel routes, while the Glen is reached by steps with a viewing-platform alternative. Some other garden areas have uneven ground. Read the access information for your intended route.
