Castle Campbell

Make a confirmed castle opening the centre of a history outing above Dollar. The surviving tower and surrounding remains explain the Campbell family’s Lowland presence, while the setting above the wooded ravines is part of the experience. Allow time for the approach as well as the building: reaching the entrance is not the same as stepping out of a car beside it.

The castle and the glen have different operators and access arrangements. A walk in the glen does not include entry to the castle.

Tickets and booking: The current season is April–September, with a lunchtime closure and last entry before closing. Book for the chosen date and check current access. Winter closure means it is not a year-round indoor fallback.
Access and getting around: Brewlands car park is around 500m from the castle, reached by a steep single-track road; there is no public vehicle access or drop-off at the castle itself. Historic interiors include stairs and uneven surfaces. Ask HES about the specific route before booking.

Visiting with children: Best for children who can manage the approach and historic stairs. Allow breaks and supervise near drops; do not add a strenuous glen circuit automatically.
