Railway heritage, art and local stories / DONCASTER
Begin with Doncaster’s story at the Danum, where museum displays, an art gallery and railway collections share a building with the library. Choose the parts that interest you rather than trying to read everything: rail enthusiasts and art lovers can give the same visit quite different shapes. It is a useful central anchor for a first look at the city.

Check the actual visiting day: the normal schedule is Monday to Saturday, with Sunday closed. The council also posts occasional early closures, so do not leave a special-interest visit until the end of the afternoon.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 1½–2½ hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
