DONCASTER GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

A flexible waterside break / DONCASTER

Doncaster Lakeside walk

Take a short section around Lakeside for fresh air and a change from indoor displays. The lake gives you a clear focus for a walk, but there is no need to complete the whole circuit to enjoy it. Use a chosen turnaround point and leave time to sit or stop for food rather than counting every lap as another attraction.

Before you go

Choose your start and return point before setting off. The full circuit is longer than a quick stroll, and extending onto other nearby routes changes the outing; the hill section is optional.

The practical details

Where to find it
Lakeside area, south-east of central Doncaster
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Walking the public route is free. Parking, food and the surrounding shopping or leisure attractions have separate costs and rules.
Access and getting around
Use the council trail map to select a section, taking account of slopes, crossings and current surface conditions. This listing does not establish a fully step-free circuit or an accessible route to every nearby venue.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Try a few questions from the council’s discovery trail and keep children supervised beside the water. A short stretch and a snack can work better than insisting on completing the full circuit.

Make it part of your day
