A countryside day built around a suitable mapped route, not a compulsory river descent.
Hilltop views and a chosen countryside route / NEAR DORKING
Head to Box Hill for a Surrey Hills outing with a clear decision about how far you want to walk. A summit visit and a longer route down the slopes are very different days. Choose the hilltop viewpoints or a mapped trail to suit your group, allowing time to enjoy the landscape rather than rushing between distant stops.

The route between the summit and the River Mole is steep and includes many steps. A hilltop visit does not require descending to the stepping stones; avoid making them essential to your day.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 1–3 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
