Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens

Leave the exposed coast for a park outing beside the River Dour. Kearsney Abbey offers water, mature trees and room to pause; Russell Gardens adds formal planting and ornamental bridges. This is a separate valley trip, with time for a picnic and play, rather than a quick extra stop between the castle and the cliffs.

Before you go

Kearsney station is the useful rail stop. Check a return service before leaving Dover Priory, especially if you plan to stay for tea.

Tickets and booking: Public park access is available all year, subject to closures. Facilities and parking have separate hours and costs may apply to refreshments or events. Check current notices before travelling; no ticket is needed for an ordinary park walk.
Access and getting around: Use the park accessibility map to choose entrances and paths. Some approaches have limited wheelchair access, while the upper Alkham Road entrance to Russell Gardens is identified as wheelchair friendly. Blue Badge parking is available by the café.

Visiting with children: Play areas and a picnic make this a flexible family option. Supervise beside the lakes and watercourses; leave room to linger rather than requiring a complete circuit of both parks.
