Dover Museum and Bronze Age Boat Gallery
Make time for the boat gallery as well as the castle. The surviving prehistoric timber vessel was found during road works in Dover, and its display raises good questions about how people travelled and traded long before the modern port. Other galleries provide context for a town often treated simply as a place to catch a ferry.
Start with the boat if time is short, then choose one other gallery instead of trying to read every display.

- General admission is free. Winter Sundays are closed from October to March, unlike the summer Sunday schedule. Check the visitor page for holiday exceptions. Scooters, trikes and bicycles cannot be stored inside.
- Access and getting around
- Ramped entrance, level floors and a lift serve the galleries. The accessible toilet uses a RADAR key. Ask staff for printed copies of stairwell exhibition panels if stairs are unsuitable.

- Use the boat as a focused family discovery rather than a long sequence of display cases. Under-16s need an accompanying adult. Eat before or after the visit: food and drink are not allowed in the galleries.
