Choose a substantial waterfront visit, lunch and an optional second subject without crossing the city.
Scottish design beside the Tay / DUNDEE
The waterfront building is an introduction to a museum about the objects, spaces and ideas around us. Spend time in the Scottish Design Galleries, then decide whether a temporary exhibition matches your interests and budget. Looking closely at a few unfamiliar objects can be more rewarding than rushing through every display before photographing the exterior.

General admission and the Scottish Design Galleries are free. Some exhibitions are ticketed separately, so distinguish the free museum visit from a particular advertised show.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 1.5–2 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
