Verdant Works Museum

This former mill provides the industrial side of Dundee’s story: the fibre and machines matter, but so do the people who worked with them. Take the visit at a pace that leaves time for the social-history displays as well as the larger equipment. It is a useful counterpoint to the waterfront’s stories of design and exploration.

Before you go

In winter the museum closes on Mondays and Tuesdays. If machinery demonstrations are important to you, ask what is operating on your date rather than expecting a continuous demonstration.

Tickets and booking: Advance booking is available but ordinary admission does not normally require it. Seasonal hours differ, particularly November–March. If using the museum car park, register your vehicle as instructed at the café to avoid a charge.
Access and getting around: The restored mill includes ramps and lifts alongside historic surfaces. Large mobility scooters may have difficulty at the reception doorway. Check the access guide for your route; cobbled approaches can be less comfortable than gallery floors.

Visiting with children: Choose a manageable selection of displays and talk about what working in a mill might have felt like. Children’s admission offers have adult-ticket conditions; they do not make the whole family visit free.
