Loch of the Lowes visitor centre and hides

Spend time watching the loch and woodland from the visitor centre and hides, letting the wildlife determine the pace. The interest changes with the season: ospreys are a spring and summer possibility, while other birds and woodland animals give autumn and winter visits their own character. Sightings are never guaranteed. This is a viewing visit with designated paths, not a circular walk around the water.

Before you go

There is no path all the way around the loch and no public access to the water. Use the operator’s directions rather than following the postcode blindly.

Tickets and booking: Tickets are available at the door under current arrangements. Winter opening is reduced to Friday–Sunday; verify your date and any special notices. Only assistance dogs may enter the centre and hides.
Access and getting around: The operator describes a wheelchair-friendly approach from the main car park and additional accessible parking nearer the centre. Confirm the particular hide and route that suit you; not every viewing position is reached in the same way.

Visiting with children: The centre has indoor wildlife activities and observation opportunities. Keep hide visits patient and manageable, allowing children to enjoy whatever appears rather than promising an osprey or red squirrel.
