The Orry and Eaglesham village walk
Walk around the Orry and the streets beside it to understand Eaglesham’s unusual shape. The green, burn and surviving buildings reveal a village planned around shared space, with the story of textile work and later restoration adding depth to the scenery. Use the heritage interpretation where available and take a shorter loop if you prefer to leave more time for a meal.
Before you go
The historic buildings include homes and working community premises. Enjoy their appearance from public routes; the heritage walk does not grant entry to private gardens, houses or churches.

- No admission ticket is required for public village routes. Visit in daylight, follow any local access notices and check refreshments independently. The village fair and other events occur on specific dates, not every weekend.
- Access and getting around
- The surrounding streets and park paths have different gradients and surfaces. Woodland paths at the upper end can be narrow and steep, with bridges and uneven ground. A shorter street-based route may suit better than the whole green.

- Use the burn, trees and village layout to make a short walk interesting. Keep children supervised beside water and when crossing roads; the route is not entirely traffic-free or level.
