Ely Country Park

Choose between a play-and-picnic stop near Fisherman’s Car Park and a longer walk into Ely’s open landscape. The shorter Bulrush route and longer Kingfisher route offer different commitments, with opportunities to look for birds along the way. Choose a route before setting out so that the return walk remains enjoyable rather than becoming the day’s final hurdle.

Download the council’s route leaflet and check ground conditions before leaving the surfaced areas. Build a toilet stop into the approach: there are no toilets inside the park.

Tickets and booking: Entry is free without booking. Check local notices, weather and the route map before a longer walk, especially after rain or in short winter daylight. Bring food or use a city café before starting; nearby supermarket toilets are for customers, not a guaranteed public facility.
Access and getting around: The council identifies the Bulrush route and parts of Kingfisher as wheelchair accessible, with disabled parking at Fisherman’s Car Park. This is not a claim for the full network in all weather. Ship Lane public toilets are outside the park; allow the separate walk.

Visiting with children: Play equipment and picnic space near the entrance can be the whole outing. Some play equipment is accessible. Older children can help follow the route map; supervise near water, stay on public paths and avoid promising particular birds or wildlife sightings.
