- Ordinary house visits do not normally need advance booking. Allow the full tour time before last entry, and check shorter November–March hours or group-related changes. The Ely Museum joint ticket needs a day when that museum is open. A carer accompanying a disabled visitor enters free.
- Access and getting around
- The visitor information centre and Parlour have wheelchair access. Upper rooms require stairs; floors can be uneven and doorways low. Confirm the current kitchen route directly before a visit that depends on step-free access. Ask for the alternative audio and written material if stairs prevent the full tour. No visitor toilet: plan a Palace Green stop.

- Family audio, costumes and games provide ways into the history, but the dark rooms and animated mannequins will not suit every child. Under-sixes enter free with an adult; older children and families have paid ticket options.
