The Stained Glass Museum
This independent museum occupies an upper level of Ely Cathedral, with glass displayed close enough to study its colour, figures and craftsmanship. It makes a focused companion to the large architectural spaces below: choose a handful of panels to compare rather than rushing through every case. The climb is an essential part of the decision to visit.
Allow a toilet and bag stop before going upstairs. There is no museum toilet or café, and large bags are not permitted in the gallery.

- The museum has its own admission, opening calendar and annual pass. It normally opens Monday–Saturday, with shorter winter hours, and is closed on Sundays. Compare the combined cathedral ticket or Ely Passport only if you will use the other admissions. Workshops require their own arrangements.
- Access and getting around
- The gallery is reached by 40 spiral stone steps with a handrail and has no lift. Portable seats are available upstairs. Companions or carers of disabled visitors enter free. For toilets, confirm cathedral access with your ticket or use the public facilities on Palace Green.

- Under-16s enter free with a paying adult. Ask about the current family activities, then choose a short looking task such as finding a colour or comparing two faces. The staircase makes this unsuitable for a visit that needs step-free access.
