St Winefride’s Well and Shrine

Visit the historic well and shrine with time to appreciate its architecture and continuing religious purpose. This is an active place of devotion, so a quiet, considerate visit suits it better than treating the water as a leisure attraction. The chapel and well have different access arrangements; ask staff what can be visited that day.

Bathing and organised pilgrimages have their own arrangements. Ordinary sightseeing admission is not a promise of immediate bathing access.

Tickets and booking: The well has an admission charge; Cadw lists the chapel separately as free, with a key and returnable deposit arrangement. Summer and winter hours differ, and last entry is half an hour before closing. Check current worship and visitor arrangements.
Access and getting around: Check access to the specific well and chapel areas with shrine staff; historic levels and the separately locked chapel should not be assumed step-free. Limited parking is opposite the well. Assistance dogs are permitted, other pets are not.
