The Warren and Bailey Walk

Take a land-based break beside the Wye, using a suitable section of the Bailey Walk towards the Warren meadow. The community-maintained green space is a place for a picnic, quiet observation and time away from the shelves, rather than a developed attraction with a programme. Keep the route manageable and respect the wildlife and local people who use it.

Before you go

The town information describes the Bailey Walk as about 1½ miles along the river. This is not a promise of a short circular loop; plan your starting point, turning point and return.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary public walking and meadow use are free. Follow current notices, take litter home and avoid flooded paths. Fishing and organised activities have separate permissions.
Access and getting around: There is no easy vehicle access to the Warren. River paths and meadow surfaces can be uneven or muddy and affected by flooding; check the current suitable approach rather than assuming a continuous step-free route.

Visiting with children: Supervise closely beside the river and keep the visit to walking and picnicking. A scenic riverbank is not evidence that swimming or paddling is safe on the day.
