Thursday market and river pause →
Visit the main market before it finishes, then choose an outdoor extension only if the river paths are suitable.
A riverside meadow and a change from the town streets / HAY-ON-WYE
Take a land-based break beside the Wye, using a suitable section of the Bailey Walk towards the Warren meadow. The community-maintained green space is a place for a picnic, quiet observation and time away from the shelves, rather than a developed attraction with a programme. Keep the route manageable and respect the wildlife and local people who use it.

The town information describes the Bailey Walk as about 1½ miles along the river. This is not a promise of a short circular loop; plan your starting point, turning point and return.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 45 minutes–2 hours for a chosen section for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
