Tyne Green Country Park
Tyne Green spreads along the south bank of the River Tyne below Hexham’s historic centre. Walk beside the river, pause under the trees or bring a picnic for a longer outdoor break. The park has a different scale and atmosphere from the Abbey gardens, so choose it when you want time by the water rather than another short town-centre stop.
Allow for the climb back into town. Keep children close by the river and stay away from the weir; this is a walking and picnic suggestion, not a swimming outing.

- General park access is free. Sports clubs, watersports, fishing and food purchases have their own arrangements and are not included in a casual park visit. Check local notices after heavy rain.

- Riverside ground can be wet or muddy and routes back to the centre climb. Check conditions and choose a short out-and-back if needed. Council facilities information lists an accessible public toilet requiring a RADAR key; opening is separate from park access.
